2026 Summer Season
overview
Summer field hockey training in Richmond, VA looks a little different at Relentless.
Less tournaments and team competition means it's the one time of year where an athlete gets to slow down, zero in on their game, and work on the things that are hard to prioritize during a full season. From June through August, we offer summer field hockey programs for players across Central Virginia at every level — beginners just discovering the sport, competitive club players staying sharp, and college-bound athletes preparing for what's next.
Every session is focused on the individual: their technique, their decision-making, their confidence on the ball.
Training Opportunities
Blaze & Torch Weekly Training Weekly sessions for competitive club players to stay sharp and keep developing through the summer. Low structure, high touch — coaches on the field working with athletes directly.
Ignite Weekly Training Skill-based sessions for experienced junior players at the U10 and U12 level. July sessions include prep for the Beach Bash tournament.
Spark Beginner field hockey for U8–U12 players trying the sport for the first time. Fun, no-pressure, and drop-in friendly.
Summer Clinic Series A themed series, each focusing on a specific concept — finishing, defending, decision-making, and more. Open to all ages and levels.
Goalkeeper Training Position-specific sessions led by Relentless goalkeeper coaches.
Individual & Small Group Lessons One-on-one and small group work with Relentless staff, built around whatever your athlete needs most. Flexible scheduling.
College Training Structured sessions for incoming college freshmen and current college players focused on the technical details that matter at the next level.
Adult Pickup Competitive, self-directed pickup for college-level players home for the summer.
Team Training
Team-based training in the summer is limited. Our U14, U16, and U19 Blaze teams that qualify for the National Club Championship during the spring season will train together through June in preparation for competition. At the U12 level, Ignite players preparing for Beach Bash get targeted team prep in July. Outside of that, summer is individual.
The Bottom Line
Athletes who do the quiet work in the summer are the ones who show up in future seasons ready to compete. We built our summer programming to make that work accessible, intentional, and worth showing up for — regardless of where your athlete is in their development.
